Fashion Designer, Illustrator and Pattern Maker
A Life Shaped by Design and Culture
My creative identity is shaped by a journey across cultures.
I was born in Croatia and raised in Italy from the age of six, before moving to Sweden where I have lived and worked for more than five decades.
These different cultures have influenced how I see design today.
From Italy I carry a strong sense of elegance, proportion and craftsmanship.
From Croatia an artistic sensitivity and emotional expression.
And from Scandinavia a love for functionality, clarity and simplicity.
Together these influences shape my design philosophy and the work I create today.
From the Textile University to a Personal Vision
Drawing has always been a natural part of my creative process. Combined with a passion for clothing, it led me to study Fashion Design at The Swedish School of Textiles in Borås. My industry experience has shaped my view on design—where quality, sustainability, and personal expression are always at the core.
My vision is to create products that are meant to last. Garments, prints, and patterns that aren’t dictated by fast trends, but instead encourage you to be personal and choose with care.
Thoughtful Sewing Patterns for Your Unique Wardrobe
Alongside my teaching at Tillskärarakademin Malmö, I develop my own sewing patterns and design projects. Since I work full-time, new patterns are released at a calm and deliberate pace—roughly every other month. For me, quality is more important than quantity:
-
Meticulously Tested: Each pattern undergoes a thorough process.
-
Focus on Fit: With my background as a pattern maker, the fit is always the priority.
-
Sustainable Philosophy: Design that stands the test of time, season after season.
”Let’s make room for the good stuff”
This is my core value. I hope you choose things that move you and that you want to live with for a long time. That is exactly the feeling I want to convey when you choose a sewing pattern, a textile print, or a wallart from me.
With love for design, Ivanka Percan
Inspiration, Color, and Harmony
Color plays a vital role in my creative process. My vision is that every motif—whether on a textile print or an art piece—should contribute ”that little something extra.” The right color palette creates a harmonious and welcoming feeling that ties a whole room together.
Personal Color Choices and Styling Support
I want you to find a motif that feels exactly right in your home. Therefore, I offer two unique services to help you along the way:
-
Custom Color Palettes: Do you love a motif but need a different colorway? Send an email to info@ivankapercan.com. When possible, I update the collection to meet your requests.
-
Styling Advice: Struggling to choose which print or design fits best in your home? I am happy to help you find the right harmony.
Sustainability and Design Vision
My philosophy is built on creating design that lasts over time, both in quality and aesthetic. For me, sustainability is built on three pillars:
-
Design with Purpose: I strive to produce items that serve a clear function and spread the joy of creating, year after year.
-
On-Demand Production: To minimize overproduction, I work with suppliers that allow for production only when a real need exists. Your product is created uniquely for you after you place your order.
-
Local Shipping within Europe: I carefully select European suppliers that deliver directly to you. By avoiding unnecessary middlemen and long shipping routes, we reduce our collective carbon footprint.
Delivery Information
Because every product is made-to-order to protect the environment, the delivery time is slightly longer than at mass-producing retail chains. You can typically expect your order within 7–10 working days. Thank you for choosing a more sustainable way to shop and for supporting slow design!
Please note: Digital patterns and textile prints are available for instant download immediately after purchase.
